Property tax is the county tax most residents deal with, but several other taxes are administered locally or on the county’s behalf.
County Innkeeper’s Tax
Lodging businesses in Vigo County collect the county innkeeper’s tax. Returns are filed with the County Treasurer.
Food & Beverage Tax
Vigo County restaurants and other food-service businesses collect Indiana’s food and beverage tax. Registration, filing and guidance are handled by the Indiana Department of Revenue: DOR — Food & Beverage Tax (opens in a new tab).
County Income Tax
Vigo County’s local income tax is collected through Indiana state income tax withholding and returns — there is nothing to file separately with the county. See the Indiana Department of Revenue (opens in a new tab).
Vehicle Excise Tax
Motor-vehicle excise taxes are paid through the Indiana BMV (opens in a new tab) when you register a vehicle.
